Water has always been a huge part of my life. I’m a lifelong swimmer, a swim instructor, and I run a swim school where I work with kids of all abilities. I’ve seen firsthand how powerful the water can be for confidence, joy, regulation, and connection.

I’m also a mom to an autistic child, which has given me an even deeper understanding of how important access to supportive programs and community resources really is.

Organizations like the Autism Society of San Diego make a real difference for families like ours. Their programs help connect parents, provide resources, and create opportunities for autistic individuals and their families to thrive. Events like Splash for Cash help fund water safety education and community programming that can truly change lives. For many autistic children, water is a place of happiness and freedom, but it also makes water safety education incredibly important.

As someone who spends so much time in and around the water, I know how critical swim safety is. And as a parent, I know how meaningful it is to feel supported by a community that understands your family.
